About
Michael Benedetti was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 2008 he received a BFA in Sculpture from Syracuse University and in 2016 a MFA in Printmaking from The University of Georgia. Following graduation he has been active within the art and printmaking communities with multiple solo exhibitions and artist residencies. Select solo exhibitions include Common Wealth Gallery in Madison, WI, Artlink Contemporary Gallery in Fort Wayne, IN, and The Academy of Visual Arts in Ghent, Belgium. Artist Residencies include Vermont Studio Center, Lawrence Arts Center, Anderson Ranch Arts Center, and The Academy of Visual Arts, Belgium. Michael has expanded his artistic career with positions in varying fields such as Digital Arts Technician at Target Creative Studio in Minneapolis, MN, Picture Framer at The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and currently Picture Framer/Project Lead at Pittsburgh, PA’s premier picture framing establishment, The Framesmith.
Focusing on fine art prints (commissioned screen prints and woodcuts), custom furniture, and custom closed corner picture framing Michael established Slabs and Planes Press in 2021 of which he is the sole proprietor. He currently resides in Pittsburgh’s East End and has a private studio in Etna, PA.
